Nuisance wildlife control- Several different species of wildlife cause various amount of crop and personal property damage in Scioto County. Many considerations must be taken into account when dealing with wildlife. There are many regulation that must be considered, if you have wildlife causing you an inconvenience, the Scioto SWCD can provide suggestions in ways to solve the problem.

Crop Damage Investigations- Losing some of your crops?  We can assist you with identifying the animals causing the damage and provide recommendations for control.  You also may be eligible to receive nuisance permits.

Wildlife Management Plans-Incorporating your goals and objectives for your property, we can help you enhance wildlife habitat for the species you want to attract.  There are also a couple of programs that could provide financial assistance.  The Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) offers cost share to landowners for converting highly erodible cropland or other environmentally sensitive acreage to vegetative cover, such as native grasses, wildlife plantings, trees, filter strips, or riparian buffers.  CRP reduces soil erosion, protects the Nation’s ability to produce food and fiber, reduces sedimentation in streams and lakes, improves water quality, established wildlife habitat, and enhances forest and wetland resources.  The Wildlife Habitat Incentives Program (WHIP) encourages creation of high quality wildlife habitat, such as wetlands and native prairies, on private land.  Through WHIP, technical and financial assistance are offered to landowners to develop wetland enhancements and wildlife tree planting.

Food Plot Recommendations-Call the wildlife specialist for some recommendations on what to plant for your goals.

Wildlife Related Educational Program-We offer educational presentations to area youth and adults. Contact the Wildlife Specialist to schedule a fun and interactive presentation.

Nuisance Trapper Contacts-Please contact the office for a list of nuisance trappers in our area.
