Trapper's Education Workshop

'Conserving traditional outdoor skills'

Learn the basics of trapping with seasoned trappers. Attendees will learn about trapping basics and equipment and also have the opportunity to set traps and learn skills from site selection all the way through to pelt preparations. This workshop is offered free of charge thanks to the partnership of the Ohio State Trappers Association, Shawnee State Park and the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Preregistration is required and registrations are limited due to limited space. Course completion will include the opportunity to get your trapper’s education certification from the Ohio Division of Wildlife. Hunter Education certification is required before obtaining the trappers education certification as well as reviewing all of the online trapper's education home-study materials found at Trapper Ed Manual (ohiodnr.gov)

The event will be held at the Shawnee State Marina building located at 11152 US Hwy. 52, Stout, Ohio 45684 and will begin on Saturday, October 28th at 8:00 am and will run through until Saturday afternoon around approximatley 4:00 pm. We will resume the session again on Sunday, October 29th at 8:00 am and should conclude by mid-afternoon. Breakfast items, lunch and refreshments will be provided. The workshop will be held regardless of the weather with time spent in the field so dress accordingly.
